Ballet d’Jèrri Presents…

SIEZ sé

IN PROUD COLLABORATION WITH

We are delighted to be returning this September to present a programme of all-new works to our audiences in Jersey. Siez Sé, roughly translated from Jerriaise toTowards Home, will be hosted at the Albert Bartlett & Sons factory where our company of dancers first began their rehearsals back in January. The repertoire that we will be sharing, fittingly, is flavoured by a theme of the cyclical nature of life. Staged with a traverse audience layout, we are thrilled to be back in our first home to showcase these new works with an original twist.

THE PROGRAMME

SEEKERS

Inspired by Jason Butler’s painting series of the same name, Joëlle Le Boutillier’s Seekers shadows her own journey of self-doubt and re-discovery upon moving back home to Jersey amidst the pandemic.

Deliberate

mistake

In Deliberate Mistake, choreographer Asier Edeso and visual artist Yulia Makeyeva collaborate on a concept that uses Jersey’s history with knitting as a way of looking at our ties and responsibilities as members of a small community. The title refers to a common practice of leaving an error in a knitted pattern as a way of identifying the garment’s maker or wearer.

MISSING LIMB

Pedro Lozano Gomez’s reimagining of his 2004 work, Juana, takes us through the choreographer’s process of coping with his mother’s illness, amputation, and eventual death.

This piece was part of our first performance abroad in Spoleto, Italy in July.
