Black Dog Noir

Black Dog Noir

Something haunts the cliffs of Bouley Bay.

Internationally acclaimed choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen is making his way to Jersey to sink his teeth into one of the island’s most mysterious legends — the infamous spectral hound that is said to stalk the north shore.

They say its glowing eyes and harrowing howls would appear before the worst of storms, sometimes driving unwitting smugglers to a violent watery death, sometimes scaring fishermen away from their boats and thus saving their lives. Angel or demon? Friend or foe? Good shepherd or harbinger of doom? The only constant is the fear that grips us as the Black Dog prowls by.

This abstract narrative will be part shadowed fairytale, part surreal psychological thriller, inspired by folklore, island legends, and the wild landscapes of the psyche.

About Jeroen Verbruggen

Jeroen is a Belgian-born choreographer and former principal dancer, based in Berlin and widely celebrated across Europe. After training at Antwerp’s Royal Ballet School and Canada’s National Ballet School, he danced with the Royal Ballet of Flanders and spent a decade with Les Ballets de Monte Carlo. He made his choreographic breakthrough in 2012 with Kill Bambi for Monte Carlo, a hit broadcast across Europe.

His full-length reinterpretation of The Nutcracker for Geneva Ballet became a repertory favorite, and he’s created bold work for companies including Ballet National de Marseille, National Dance Company Wales, Finnish National Ballet, Ballet Moscow, Staatsballett Hannover and more. Jeroen’s productions—ranging from the Hitchcock‑inspired Sciamachy to faithful yet fresh classics—have drawn acclaim for imaginative visual worlds and emotional intensity.
